We kicked off our 2019-2020 Educational Outreach series with our September Friday Forum featuring guest speaker Shirley Perez, Director of the Ligas Family Advocate Program and the Family Support Network, Arc of Illinois.
Focusing on “A Road Map to Services in Illinois”, Shirley discussed the many programs of the Arc of Illinois, all centered on helping to empower persons with disabilities to achieve full participation in community life through informed choices. She also talked about the role of the Independent Service Coordination Agencies (ISCs), the importance of getting on the PUNS waiting list for services, and what families can do while waiting for services.
